In March 2018, there were an estimated 3.9 million foreign nationals present in Turkish territory seeking international protection. Most of them were Syrians (3,567,130 individuals) who were granted temporary protection status. Of these 73were living in urban settings and 5% were living in camps. since January 2018 the number of Syrians residing in camps has decreased by 3,361. In addition, there were 655,599 foreign nationals with residency permit status including those granted humanitarian residence status. 47,198 irregular migrants were also apprehended in Turkey in the first quarter of 2018.
