Summary

The number of maritime incidents off Libyan coasts has increased in May 2016, with the last week in particular witnessing a dramatic number of rescue operations being conducted in the Southern Mediterranean. Between 22 May and 28 May, over 3,600 migrants were rescued and brought back to shore in Libya.
