This Dashboard provides an analysis of the trends in population mobility observed at five (5) flow monitoring points (FMPs) established at unofficial border crossings between Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo at Kagazi Tr4, Kagazi Tr6, Kigazura, Ndava Tr6 and Rukana Tr1. Over the reporting period, a total of 925 movements were observed at these points. This represents a decrease of 19 per cent as compared to the daily average movements observed in August 2020. About 43 per cent of all movements were incoming and 57 per cent were outgoing, with all the movements travelling towards the Democratic Republic of the Congo, also the main country of origin for incoming movements. The migration movements tracked have decreased by 97% as compared to March 2020 (28,348 movements), following the decision taken by the Burundian authorities to restrict movements into the country in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Pendant la période considérée, un total de 925 mouvements ont été observés par les enquêteurs à ces points. Cela représente une diminution de 3 pour cent par rapport à la moyenne quotidienne de mouvements observée en mars 2020. Environ 43 pour cent de tous les mouvements étaient entrants et 57 pour cent étaient sortants, avec tous les mouvements sortants allant vers la République Démocratique du Congo, principal pays d’origine des flux entrants enregistrés aux points de suivi des flux. Les mouvements ont diminué de 97% par rapport au mois de mars (28 348 mouvements) en raison de la restriction des mouvements de population prise par les autorités burundaises pour prévenir la flambée de COVID-19 dans le pays.

Over the reporting period, a total of 50,427 movements were observed at these points. This represents a decrease of five (5) per cent as compared to the daily average movements observed in August 2020. About 56 per cent of all movements were incoming and 44 per cent were outgoing, with most of the movements travelling towards the United Republic of Tanzania, also the main country of origin for incoming movements.

Au cours de la période considérée, un total de 50 427 mouvements ont été observés à ces points. Cela représente une augmentation de 75 pour cent par rapport à la moyenne quotidienne des mouvements observée en juillet 2020. Cette augmentation est due à la réouverture au mois d’Août 2020 des deux points de suivi (Kwa Elidadi et Kwa Ntunaguzi) se trouvant dans la province de Rutana, après que la mesure de restriction des movements de population a été levée.

Over the reporting period, a total of 52,900 movements were observed at these points. This represents an increase of 75 per cent as compared to the daily average movements observed in July 2020. This increase is due to the reopening of two flow monitoring points (Kwa Elidadi and Kwa Ntunaguzi) in Rutana province in August 2020, after the population movement restriction has been lifted at those entry points.

This Dashboard provides an analysis of the trends in population mobility observed at six (6) active flow monitoring points (FMPs) established between the Burundi and United Republic of Tanzania border at Rusumo, Kwa Rutuku, Mbundi, Kabuyenge, Mukambati and Nashaza. Over the reporting period, a total of 30,160 movements were observed at these points. This represents an increase of 22 per cent as compared to the daily average movements observed in June 2020. Following the decision taken by Burundian authorities at the end of March to restrict population movements at some Points of Entries (PoEs) in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19  in the country, Kwa Ntunaguzi and Kwa Elidadi FMPs were still inactive during the month of July 2020.

Etant donnée la décision des autorités burundaises prise depuis fin mars de restreindre les mouvements de population à certains points d'entrée pour prévenir les flambées de COVID-19 dans le pays, les points de suivi des flux de Kwa Ntunaguzi et Kwa Elidadi étaient toujours inactifs au cours du mois de juillet 2020.
