In May, a total of 31,464 individuals were recorded in border crossing points monitored by the DTM. This represents a slight increase in comparison with April 2018. The ratio of inflows and outflows remained relatively stable, with 63% of flows entering Somalia and 37% exiting Somalia. This month saw a significant increase of movements from Ethiopia to Somaliland, through the Harirad border point (4,083) along the Ethiopian border. Significant movements through the Lowyacado point (4,348) along the Djibouti border were also recorded. The Elayo border point in Sanaag also saw a significant number of exits, all headed to Yemen (2,970). Main nationality observed are Somali (64%), Ethiopian (25%), and Djiboutian (8%); Yemeni and Kenyan nationals represent 1% each. Finally, main countries of departure for all flows were Ethiopia (48%), Somalia (29%), Djibouti (11%), Kenya (8%), and Yemen (3%). Main countries of destination for all migrants was Somalia (68%), Ethiopia (12%), Yemen (10%), Kenya (7%), and Djibouti (2%).
